Today I went to Ca Phe Da, the smaller "lunch counter" part of HaiSous in Pilsen, and had a very good experience. The staff was pleasant, friendly, and helpful, and the food was delicious. I will leave it to others to analyze the dishes in more detail, but I recommend checking it out. The portions are not large, but the quality and fresh flavors (lots of fresh herbs) were quite satisfying.
I neglected to take pictures, but there are decent ones on their Yelp page. The goi ga (very different from the version at New Asia) had very thinly sliced cabbage/onions, and what seemed like baked or roasted dark meat chicken, which was tender and tasty.
The roasted pork banh mi was similarly flavorful, with an abundance of fresh greens and herbs. The noodle salad had slices of chicken breast, herbs and white noodles, and could have used more dressing, as the noodles were mostly unseasoned.
I recommend trying the sweets; the lychee danish was flaky and not too sweet, since lychee is sweet as it is. To accompany it, the Cà Phê Sữa Chua (coffee, ice,, house made yogurt) was ideal, with a tang from the yogurt that went well with the iced coffee.
Everything else looked good too, so I'd like to return to try more of the items from the compact menu. I'd be interested to hear what others have to say.
