Closer than you might imagine; Cafe Hoang has already reopened as Pho Cafe, using the same menu for now with a refreshed dining room and a really friendly staff. Rare spicy lemon beef salad (my favorite) was actually better than the last few visits - totally pristine herbs, shaved onions and carrots, lots of ginger, not too sweet. I may have slurped up the entire tray including dressing. A table I passed was enjoying a tureen of broth with what looked like a veritable brontosaurus knuckle in the middle.
I will say that anyplace adding a voiceless velar stop after "Pho" is actively asking for trouble.
