Are there restaurants that server special holiday foods only at one time of the year? Hopefully restaurants that are very crowded on the holiday and would stretch things and do the special holiday meal for a group a week or two before or after? This means if the special meal is a whole roast hog, it probably wouldn't work, there wouldn't be enough of us to justify a whole animal.

For instance, I think Tre Kroner has special holiday meals, and do some Mexican restaurants serve special food for Cinquo De Mayo or is that just quantity?

Right now I'm thinking of Christmas, New Year and the Lunar New Year, but would consider advance planning for any other time of the year.

My group is 12-15 normally, could be up to 30, and we generally need a maximum cost per person of $40 including tax and tip. If special enough, it could go a bit higher.

    You already mentioned...

    Tre Kronor
    3258 W Foster Ave, Chicago

... which was my first thought.

There is a local and awesome restaurant...

    New Rebozo
    1116 Madison St, Oak Park

... that puts out a special dish (Chiles en Nogada) for Mexico Independence Day for about 3 months through the holidays but one dish hardly makes a special menu.

    This is a challenge...

When we had our party at Tre Kronor, it was around $65 pp with tax and tip for the Yule Feast. I have no idea what it may be now.

A number of restaurants have held Lunar New Year celebrations and specials over multiple days. In the past, these restaurants have included Mott St, Fat Rice, Sunda, and Koi (Evanston).

    Not a restaurant but...

    Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza

    And the already passed...

Berghoff Oktoberfest in Federal Plaza (September 17 & 18th)

Both are always a great seasonal time in the city.
