Looks like this place is shut down. Another Wheaton favorite down the tubes b/c of back taxes. I was so bummed when Marshall's Pizza shut down. I'm more bummed b/c we got a $100 gift certificate for Ocean Place a few months back and wanted to go for my birthday in October. They shut down for "remodeling" right before we planned on going.

My point, speaking as a tax professional: always, ALWAYS pay your taxes. If you don't, the man will hunt you down and make sure you do.

I think the food and service did them in, not the back taxes...the place was never the same after Kurt and Colin left to open Tin Fish in Tinley Park.

You missed a great time at Haggis' this evening!

120 was always pretty much the same, even when Colin Turner was there. Good, but not particularly impressive. Turner is overrated as a chef. Tin Fish is no great shakes either.

I thoroughly enjoyed a meal at 120 Ocean Place about a year ago...I thought that, if nothing else, the atmosphere was very nice and unique for the Western suburbs. That said, the service was spotty, I didn't think that the food really was anything special, and I haven't been back since then (I guess that I could be part of the problem, in addition to the tax bill).

I do think that 120 Ocean Place did a pretty good job in the first year or so it was open. But both food and service went downhill pretty quickly after that, for whatever reason. But they stayed pretty busy until Catch 35 on Washington in Naperville opened. That place has sucked business from every other seafood place for miles around.

    Anyone been?

And what are these other food and wine events being refererred to here that no one invited me to :? ?

You might want to check out http://winodepot.invisionzone.com (registration required), there's quite an active wine group in the west suburbs!

I'm out in Geneva tasting wine on most Thursdays. If you find yourself in the area in the 5:30-6:30p timeframe, stop by the Wine Seller on Third Street and introduce yourself, and I'll do the same...
