hi! i am looking for a nice bar with interesting drinks and not too loud for talking that could accommodate a group of 8 people on a weeknight and accepts reservations. we are too big a group to simply walk in and happen upon the right size seating cluster, but too small for private party rooms, so been having trouble. bucktown, andersonville, lincoln park, lakeview all ideal, but could go elsewhere. grateful for tips!

I know income tax takes reservations if that's a place that fits the bill. That's closer to your area.

And downtown, so does three dots and a dash.

Not sure of your budget, but Aviary takes reservations and has interesting drinks, noise levels depend on how many patrons are there at the time, but shouldn't be too bad. It is more a lounge than a bar.

Ward Eight could be a nice option. In Roscoe Village, you could try Four Moon Tavern.

Billy Sunday in Logan Square takes reservations and would otherwise fit. there is literally one or two tables in the entire place that would fit 8, so you absolutely would need a reservation. They make some of my favorite interesting drinks while still being relatively accessible to people who might not be on the vanguard of CBD-infused mezcal amaro cocktails or whatever the next trend will be.

If you have a bar in mind, you might just call and ask if they could reserve a table for you, even if they don't formally take reservations.

In Andersonville, you might try Big Jones. It's a restaurant, but if they have capacity on a weeknight they may be willing to reserve a table for you.

For a very private event with just the 8 of you, Milk Room in the Chicago Athletic Association https://www.chicagoathletichotel.com/re ... /milk-room

Not sure when you were there but fwiw, Paul McGee is no longer with Land & Sea, which operates Milk Room. That information may or may not be of use.

I see a few nice suggestions here and I like Darren's advice, mainly because if a restaurant you like has a solid bar program, they'd most likely be very happy to accommodate you, especially on a weeknight.

I had a long post but the page refreshed and all was lost.

Try the Great Neighborhood Bars (GNB)

Thanks so much for all this advice. It really is funny, several places (including ones named on this list) have refused - we are coming mid-week, we are only 8 people, we are willing to pay a deposit / guaranteed minimum. What's a girl to do?

Wow, that seems like a very reasonable request. If they said no, I'd skip going there without a reservation and go somewhere that was more accomodating.
