Considering he partnered with Burger King in the past (2003), this isn't too surprising. From a purely food perspective, it actually seems to make more sense than the BK thing did.

Jollibee bought 51% of Tortas Frontera last year, so I think all of the reporting of this as a combination of the two is misleading. There are two entities—Jollibee the restaurant and Jollibee the parent company that also owns Coffee Bean and Smashburger. The parent company is bank rolling an expanded Tortas Frontera under a new name with eyes on making it a national chain. Nothing about the food being served has anything to do with Jollibee the restaurant.

Had lunch here today: it's Tortas Frontera with a different name and color scheme. Fits in well with the set-your-food-hall-to-mild lineup surrounding it: Brown Bag, Sweetgreen, etc.

So in short, it's Bayless' vision bankrolled with Jollibee money.

Can anyone who's been to this place and/or Tortas Frontera compare to Frontera Fresca in Macy's?

Why are the photo captions just straight up ad copy? I don’t like the 2020 version of journalism.

Would have been easier for Eater to have just written that, but then they wouldn't be able to take their digs at Bayless.
