Early Wednesday Breakfast with the bride, Taco Max was open 9am sharp, clean, friendly, inexpensive, delicious, large menu. Huevos a la Mexicana for the bride, cochinita pibil tacos for me. Good coffee, easy parking, an Instagram pick by Titus Ruscitti, aka @chibbqking. Taco Max has another location on Montrose.

I can't believe it took this long for a thread to pop up on this place. I was sad to see Latin Sandwich Cafe/Rapa Nui close, so when Taco Max replaced it my first impression was "wonderful, another two-bit taco joint to join the 5,308 other two-bit taco joints around here." But one of the counter guys at the liquor store on the Elston/Monticello corner (the one with the red awning) insisted it was definitely a step above and that need I check it out. He even gave me a $3 discount on a six-pack of beer as enticement to take it over to Taco Max and have a BYOB lunch. I'm really glad he did because my wife and I have been eating there at least once a month ever since.

Back to Taco Max for breakfast, we both had Huevos a la Mexicana, a delicious version with fresh crunchy veg, soft eggs, tasty refried beans and standard but fine rice. Her, corn, me, flour and free flowing coffee. Server remembered us* from last time, even commented we sat in the same seats, and was friendly and efficient.

*I guess that means PiD is going to suggest we got 5-extra grains of rice and an additional tortillia.

    Gary,

Needed the refresher of that classic post and thanks for the laugh after a long day at work.

I'm 99% certain that a place called taco max opened in the former ixcateco grill space. Not sure if it's the same owners but the signage looks similar to this location

Sorry I wish I could provide more info. But I briefly saw it as I drove past last night

Gwiv gave both addresses in first post in thread. The signage is identical from what I have seen. Web presence is minimal except for some delivery services which may not work with both locations.
