Restaurants open on X-Mas Eve-BESIDES Hotels and Chinatown?

Hi,
Does anybody know any good restaurants open on Xmas Eve to take my Mom to?

Besides Chinese. Thanks!

Open Table is perfect for this sort of question. I just ran a quick search for 7 p.m. on the 24th and came up with lots of promising possibilities, including Bin 36, Morton's, Shaws, and Sweets and Savories. All have been discussed recently here.

For traditions,

we would go to 5pm mass, followed by Vito and Nicks on 83rd and Pulaski was the perfect follow up.

We were a less than formal family, to say the least. V&N fit the bill

This Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Fulton's on the River "Home for the Holidays" celebrates cultural and family traditions with a special holiday menu, including:


- wild king salmon with pinot noir butter and wild huckleberries
- fresh Alaskan red king crab with lemon hollandaise
- USDA prime filet mignon with sauteed wild mushrooms and veal demi glace.

Sides include "Blackjack" sweet potato smash, cornbread stuffing with sage and roasted butternut squash.

Desserts like pumpkin pie and muddy bottom pecan pie round out the meal.

Fulton's on the River is also taking reservations for its VIP New Year's Eve party.

For New Year's Eve, I'm considering listening to Eddie Clearwater while enjoying the buffet from Hecky's (and the open bar) for $66 pp at Bills Blues, if he's not sold out yet.

why NOT Chinese on Christmas Eve? or, how is Christmas eve Christmas eve without Chinese food?

The current issue of Time Out Chicago also has an article about dining out on Christmas Eve, with descriptions of the specials at many restaurants.

If you're willing to take a drive out to Woodfield, Texas de Brazil (yet another churrasceria) is open on Christmas Eve for both lunch and dinner. Lunch is quoted at $25.95 which isn't a bad deal as most Brazilian steak houses aren't even open on the weekends. I'm taking my parents there for lunch to forego the dinner prices. Cheers.

Actually I would be happy with going to Chinatown-or ordering in but Mom doesn't want to-and now she is finding fault with all of the suggestions I have given her.
