    Okay,
Have narrowed down our choices for tomorrow's "special" dinner to the aforementioned two restaurants.

Sweets and Savories- Have never been there, even though it's quite close. Hear good things about the tasting menu, and are eager to expand our horizons. What's the parking sitch?

Meritage- Have been a few times but not since they changed chefs...has the quality changed at all? If not, Meritage might just win for proximity.

Our initial plans involved sushi and then dessert @ Hot Chocolate but, alas, Hot Chocolate is closed Mondays. Are there any other remarkable dessert places in the hood (Bucktown) that I'm forgetting about? Caffe DeLucca has great coffee, but none of their desserts have ever looked that spectacular.

There's also Bin Wine Cafe or Francesca's Forno....but I don't think they're quite in the same vein as Sweets and Savories or Meritage.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Can't say enough about Sweets and Savories. You mentioned dessert - if you order the tasting menu you will never be able to finish all of the sweet offerings. I would ask if they have any White Truffle ice cream, it might be too late in the season.

I always park on the street, directly in front.

Of the places you mentioned, I have made multiple positives comments here about Sweets and Savories after brunching there many times. My Sunday brunch visits have not been too difficult parking-wise, finding a space within a block or so. Plus, call them, as there is some additional parking in back or something like that, which I've never used.

Bin 36 is good, in my opinion. I like that they have a pretty large and varied menu. Both Bin 36 and Sweets are Savories are casual, not snotty. If you're all about the food. I'd pick Sweets and Savories. It's hard to beat in terms of what you experience at that price point.
