Romantic Restaurants in the Skokie/Lincolnwood & NW Chic

Hi!

Gonna be doing our V-Day dinner this Sunday cause my parents are going out of town before then. So, we're dropping the kiddies off and we need a nice restaurant to eat and enjoy that is in the Skokie/Lincolnwood & even NW Chicago area. We can also look at the North Burbs like Northbrook/Wilmette/Vernon Hills as well.

Something kinda fancy, probably around $50-70 price range with tax/tip.

Cuisine is open...we like almost anything. OH, except no seafood for me...

Any ideas?

We went to Elliott's in Edison Park last night with some friends. I had a 28 day wet-aged ribeye that was excellent. The place has great steaks, chops & seafood and even a fairly decent version of chicken vesuvio. I'd recommend it highly for a V-day dinner...but call soon for reservations before it's too late. Total bill for 4 including apps, a couple of drinks and tip was $175. A real bargain by downtown standards...especially considering the quality of the food.

I think one of the most romantic restaurants in that general area is Jilly's Cafe. It was just written up in Chicago Magazine's latest issue in their story on notable quiet restaurants. Small, French-ish menu a little above the bistro-food level.

Everyone has different ideas about what constitutes a romantic restaurant. Some people want somewhere dimly lit and private, where they can engage in activities not suited for more public areas.

As an old married lady, for me, it is old-fashioned, courtly service. For that, in the specified neighborhood, I'd recommend Charcoal Oven.
