here are a few emails from my friends/folks who are spying on the (re) opening of 17/W (aka the Berghoof Bar):

    >Good morning to all.

Congratutlations to the Wisconsin Badger Hockey team. A nice game.

Here is the update on 17/W. A new sign is up. It has a red border with
a white oval. Within the white oval is the new name--17/W. I was able
to peek inside. The newest change is what appears to be a square shaped
elevated structure in the area where the sandwich carving area was
located. It appears to be made from the wood that was part of the wall that had been dividing the restaurant and the bar. I could not see that well due to it being dark. I cannot say if this is a type of seating area or if it will be used to host auctions, or karaoke or lunch hour lingerie shows.
I also noticed that beer handles were fastened to the spiggots. The old
floor is out and a new one will go in. There were bar stools set up
around the bar. It looks like the opening will be soon.

I think it will take some getting used to for me but that I will
probably like it. Most of the places we have been going to simply are a
cut below. Kind of like the difference between a fine bordeaux and
    MD20/20.

    >>First off, your palate must be degraded if you do not like the fine hint of sweetness that MD 20/20 carries. Secondly, I am sure the bar will be just fine when it reopens. It will take an adjustment, but the people make it what it is.

It was a very good game by the Badgers last night. Elliot is quite a goaltender, but I am afraid that the Blackhawks will ruin Adam Burish when he plays for them.

    >>>Thank you for the update and your optimism about the future. I always considered myself a modern woman who explored the unknown, embraced change .....Then they removed Latin from Mass. Now karioke at the Berghoff!

Btw, the last one of the former Berghoff bar group to see/speak with herman berghoff reported him saying Apr 28th was the tentative opening date.
