Has anyone been to the Crepe and Coffee Palace at 2433 N. Clark St? I walked by the other day and it looked and smelled great. I had just eaten a bland and overstuffed taco right next door at Mamacita's--I was starving and looking for something cheap and easy--and then was kicking myself as I saw the delicious looking crepes being made right in the window of the C & C Palace. Definitely fresh! I stuck my head in, and mmmm, if only I was still hungry! Very small, full of people eating things that smelled wonderful and sipping extremely dangerous looking coffee. I'm going to try it soon, but was wondering if anyone else had ever been there. The menu looks great, and has both savory and sweet crepes, mostly algerian style (I guess) with a few European types thrown in.

I don't end up in that neighborhood very often so I don't even know if it's new or if it's been there forever!

This talks about it and links to another post about it. It's a nice little place that makes fresh, healthy stuff in an area where that can be hard to find.

I thought I had posted after visiting in June, but apparently not.

This intimate cafe's bright orange walls display tapestries, maps and photos around a dining area filled with small wooden cafe tables. There wouldn't be room here for any size LTH event; the two of us barely had room for our food on the table.

The basic meal is a large crepe folded around your choice of meats, such as merguez, a mild lamb sausage; or smoked salmon; plus cheeses including goat cheese and brie; vegetables; nuts; and herbs. Besides several set combinations, you can choose your own fillings. These are not much like French crepes -- there's no sauce -- but they make a very pleasant light meal.

All come with soup; the best was described by our server as "vegetable" but turned out to be a lovely curried bisque.

Fillings for dessert crepes include Nutella, Belgian dark chocolate, nuts, fruits or any combination, served with ice cream.

There are also choose-your-own-ingredients salads, ice cream and organic coffee drinks.

    Service is extremely leisurely.

With every place we eat, the BF always reminds me to post of our experience on LTH. (Yeah...he's hooked.)

Well, after a dinner I made at home last night, we were craving something sweet. I remembered this crepe place, Crepe & Coffee Palace, was only a stone's throw from home so we checked it out.

The inside was cozy and colorful. It definitely was a "hidden treasure" amidst the other establishments that dot this area on Clark. Aside from the sights, the smells were evident - not sure it was incense or the food cooking... but it was pungent and inviting.

BF ordered a simple strawberry jam crepe and I had the "Crepes Amar - belgian chocolate with fresh strawberries - both served with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. With my crepe I also had the Turkish Cafe, the traditional strong and bitter turkish coffee, served in the special turkish teacup and saucer.... (slightly stronger than I expected!)

When our crepes came, they were large and filled nicely. Every bite included all the ingredients and wasn't too overly sweet. I thought the crepes were perfect - not to thin or dry, nor thick and puffy - perfect!

I would receommend this place for the unique ambiance and good selections for both sweet and savory crepes.

I would definitely go to this place again - I'm not in the area too much, so it's hard to get to. When I was there, I stopped in for a snack and had a huge plate-sized crepe with nutella and butter. They topped it with more nutella and whipped cream.

Couple that with a Turkish coffee, and it was an excellent treat.
