Has anyone tried this place? I called them and was told they're not connected to Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder in Chicago, but their concept is the same-exactly!!! www.chicagopizzacompany.com It's in a little strip mall near Wal Mart in Rolling Meadows.Seems kinda un-original to me.

Who the heck puts anchovies on a Grinder? And check out the difference between prices of the sandwiches at lunch and dinner.

And when your most expensive thing on the menu is something called a Pizza Bowl, I don't think you qualify for seperate lunch and dinner pricing. And how great a Chicago Tradition is this Pizza Bowl thing, considering I've never heard of it.

It is basically the exact same as the infamous "Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder" in Lincoln Park. I tried it after it first opened one night after going to the original and being told there was a 90 minute wait.

I thought it was pretty comparable, but the portions were smaller. To be fair though, the prices were cheaper.

+1 for taking credit cards....

While I wasn't the biggest fan of the pizza pot pies at CPOG when I lived in the city, (and definitely was not a fan of the long waits) I loved their bread and their large (and cold) salads, with the creamy garlic and poppy seed dressings. After hearing about CPC from someone at work, (I work in RM) we went there about a month ago on a Sunday afternoon. The salad and bread were great, and the pizza was the same as CPOG. It is not my favorite style, but it was still good.

As grant stated, CPC is not affiliated with CPOG, but people who have been to CPOG may recognize the older gentleman who is usually the host (and also apparently the owner) of CPC. (The waitress stated quietly that there had been a falling out between him and the owners.)

While the strip-mall setting is not as interesting of a setting as CPOG, there is ample parking and not a 1-2 hour wait at CPC. (There are some advantages to the suburbs, at least I keep telling myself that there are...)

Me, for one...I like that CPOG offers sandwiches with lots of meat, onions, cheese, anchovies, and oil. I don't want to pay $12 for some gussied-up Subway joint.

Last time I checked, people could pretty much put whatever they want on sandwiches.

Went there tonight with my wife and kids. Here are my comparisons to the CPOG (Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder) on Clark Street:

Salad dressings are the same, but the salad at the original CPOG is served a bit colder. But it was still good.

The Mediterrenean bread at CPOG is better, less doughy.

The pizza at CPOG is better. The sauce at CPOG is seasoned better and less watery.

The atmosphere at CPOG blows away the strip mall motif at Chicago Pizza Company.

If you weren't a fan of CPOG in the first place, Chicago Pizza Company won't make you a fan.
