I just wanted to take this moment to . .

point out that the fairly newly opened Monarca paleteria besides giving you a discount of 35 cents from the roving paleteros, and offering the full range of paletas in a non melted and refrozen state, aslo offers "italian ice" - actually nieves/helados including a pretty tasty mango as well a good coconut version

they're just north of Lunt on the East side of Clark, a pretty cheap and tasty way to end a cheap and tasty meal at either Dona Lolis, La Cazuela, or the new El Llano across the street

This is great news, thanks. It's within walking of my son's daycare and makes a great alternative for a light dinner and treat after pick-up. (Of course, daycare is even closer to Devon, which is hard to forego.)
"Strange how potent cheap music is."

Do you happen ot know the hours of operation for Monarca BTW? The last 4-5
times I was there they were closed (this is the one on Clark), once with
actually people inside (I think it must hav ebeen just after 10pm, is that
their closing time? And whats their opening time, anyone know?)

Also, only a few weeks ago, they had a Subway opposite them - is that
now El Llano? That would be something :-)

I was there Saturday and asked their hours:

    La Monarca Paleteria
    6955 N. Clark
    773-274-6394
    11am to 9:30 pm daily

There is a sub shop across the street (A1 Subs), the subway is now in the strip mall next to la baguette
