Dined here for the first time last night and I think it deserves more business than the more noteworthy italian joints on Taylor (Francescas and Rosebud). Prices are a little steep ($12-$18 pastas; $18-$25 fish/meat dishes) but the food was excellent and our waiter's wine suggestion went well with our dishes. They also have a nice rooftop dining option, however it was raining out last night and it was not open.

After dinner be sure to check out Beviamo Wine Bar directly across the street. Great wines and martinis and the bartenders are excellent.

We usually visit La Vita on week nights, as the room can be distractingly loud on weekends when the place gets busy. Also, lunch there is surprisingly economical.

I'm glad you had a better experience than we did... never will we attend this restaurant again... they had the wrong sauces on all of the dishes we ordered...how the hell does that happen? Let me go into more detail, it was like they made spaghetti and meatballs, but put afredo sauce on it instead of tomato sauce... on every dish! When this was brought to their attention, they apologized and took the dishes away... a few minutes later the food came back and they "washed" the stuff off and recooked it with the same ingredients! This place gets a big THUMBS DOWN!

Walked past Beviamo last night and it was closed and they had signs claiming they were "remaking" the place. Hope they don't screw it up.
