My wife and I went for Sunday Brunch yesterday and had mixed feelings about our experience. The food was excellent...alas, the service a disappointment. I’m not sure if our waiter was the one mentioned previously and I don’t care…that doesn’t matter. What does matter is receiving decent service for the price point paid. We didn’t feel like we got that. First, we thought it odd that the Brunch price is not printed on the menu. No biggie…I’d done enough research to know it wasn’t going to clean me out, but it’d be nice to have a price on there.

Our waiter took our order and brought coffee and the requested cocktails. Shortly thereafter, our first course arrived. We remembered a plate of breakfast breads listed on the menu and finally asked for them. We then noticed others getting their breads as well. It left me wondering if they forgot everyone’s bread or just don’t include unless asked. Before I finished my fruit plate, our main courses arrived with the explanation “…sorry, the kitchen rushed these on me” Tenderloin and Eggs for me, Soft Scrambled Eggs for my wife. One problem, I was missing the Tenderloin. I mentioned it to the waiter who brought the food. He removed the plate, walked over to the waiter who took our order and told him of the error. I cannot describe the stink eye I got from this guy! Obviously, he didn’t feel as though I ordered what I ordered. Now, I’m a forgetful guy but my wife confirmed that I, indeed, ordered the Steak & Eggs.

I watched as he took my plate back to the kitchen, came back out with my eggs and placed them on the bar. About 3-4 minutes later, he went to the bar, retrieved my plate and brought it back to the table instructing me to “go ahead and get started on these while they prepare your steak”. Meanwhile the waiter who took our order steered clear of our table.

Steak arrives on it’s own plate and there’s nowhere to put it. No room on the table. I mentioned to the waiter that it needed to be on the plate with the eggs and he handed it to me with a “yeah…here ya go”. I slid the steak off the plate onto my egg plate and handed him back the plate along with some delicious looking juices that I would have loved on my plate. I sliced into my steak and heard a mooooo…seriously this thing was raw. Not what I had in mind on a Sunday morning. I got the waiter’s attention and asked him to re-cook the whole meal over with the steak med-rare. So much for enjoying brunch with my wife. Now she’s halfway through her meal and I’m starting over.

Steak and eggs come back and I must say it’s wonderful. I’m not good at descriptive food prose as others here are, but it was very tasty.

Finished up and the plates sat in front of us for about 5 minutes after our last bite. Then they brought us someone else’s bill.

The restaurant was less than half full. Really about ¼ full most of the time we were there.

My wife says we’ll be back so I guess we will. But I felt like our waiter would rather been anywhere on the planet than serving customers yesterday morning.
