There's a new Japanese restaurant in LITH, which is big news since all that is out there is a string of fast food chains. Has anyone been there yet?

Are you talking about the place in the shopping center with Tacos Del Norte, The Jerk Shack, and that Chinese place on Algonquin Rd. east of Randall?

I haven't tried that place yet.

Also, on Algonquin, they have opened a new strip center with a independent coffee shop and a new Thai restaurant that looks promising. I have been there twice - the day BEFORE they opened and a holiday that they decided to take off.

Maybe I need to take a week off from Round the Clock and try some of these new places ...

It's off Algonquin Rd, and next to LITH bank. It's in the Cedar Ridge shopping center 2124 Algonquin Rd. I Just wondering if it's any better then Bistro Wasabi.

I will try to make an effort to get to a different restaurant this week.

By the way, John Evans reopened near Porter's. I went there for dinner one night but the prices were above my limit. The restaurant itself is quite nice and the dining room looks pretty good.

I have to be honest with you. I am OVERJOYED that I cannot find a good supply of restaurants in this area. I am finding some phenomenal deals at Woodman's, Dominick's, Sam's Club, etc. and doing a lot of cooking at home. Found some skirt steak at $2.25 a lb and grilled it with supurb results. Bought 10# of short ribs at $1.50# and should cook off some of those later on this week. My wife keeps saying, "why haven't you been cooking this all along."

BTW, Woodman's has the organic baby greens for $2.99/lb, Usually pay closer to $6 for it.

Tried Genovese's in downtown Crystal Lake and found the food to be pretty good. That Pizza place across from the train station has pretty good pizza, especially the deep dish.

Went down to Kamineri's last night and ended up with dinner at Tacos del Norte. I will admit that part of the reason for my change of heart is that the place was 1) pretty busy and 2) it is too dark lit to read while I eat. I will wait until my wife joins me.

However, one of the managers of work has eaten there and given it fairly good reviews. She says that her husband enjoyes the sushi selection that he had and she had a teriyaki dish of some sort and was satisfied with it. She said that the meal was about $25-30 for two with no alcohol.

However, they had not been to Bistro Wasabi to make a comparison.

Right now, I have no enthusiasm to eat out. I am waiting for my road trip to Lafayette, LA next month.

I have eaten there once. I thought the entrees and appetizers that we had were well prepared and well presented. My company uses Porter's as a place to entertain our distributors because the food is noth good and reliable.

It is not a place that I go to as it is out of my price range for an everyday dinner.

Also, I think that the food is a bit more creative across the street at 1776.

When I lived out that way I used to eat at Porter's quite frequently. It was a good Saturday night place plus it was very "Shaw's like". I've heard that the owner used to be a manager at Shaw's. However, 1776 was relatively new so we did not get around to trying it. I've heard good things though.
