Post #1 - October 17th, 2006, 5:54 amHi, We are six friends (all women) who are heading to Chicago in Nov for 4 days of fun, shopping and great dining. We are heading to the Ford Centre to see Wicked, we plan to dine at Spiaggia and Alinea's. We have never been to Chicago and are looking for suggestions regarding places to hear good music, shop and welcome any info in regards to the restaurants we've already chosen or other suggested restaurants.
We've recently heard about Roy's and Japonais. Also, we would like to find a res/bar close to the theatre for a light meal of appetizers with drinks before the show. After the Theatre we would like to find a club to hear some great music. We would appreciate any suggestions.

It was just discussed in the Girls Night Out thread, but the Green Mill can't be missed if you're in Chicago. Oldest existing jazz club in the nation, very likely the world.Writing about craft beer at GuysDrinkingBeer.com

Post #3 - October 17th, 2006, 7:48 amPaula, The Green Mill is a great rec. My favorite music venue in Chicago is HotHouse. It's a great venue for international/jazz/african music. The address is 31 E. Balbo. www.hothouse.net

Post #5 - October 17th, 2006, 9:50 amIf you haven't already, you should consult the Chicago Reader for entertainment listings and etc. to find what's going on while you're going to be here: http://www.chicagoreader.com As to what else you might like to see or do, if you could provide more info about what you are interested in -- museums and culture, neighborhoods, particular dining desires for lunch, etc. -- I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions.ToniG

Both good choices, but Avec remains one of my favorite spots in town.
