We ordered our too-lazy-to-cook standby of gumbo the other night. It [over]fed 4 hungry adults with about 2 generous portions left over.

Had a wonderful dinner at Boston Fish Market last night. They have re-arranged the tables a little in the restaurant, they now run perpendicular to the fish counter in three long rows, and they have removed the high-tops along the window. They have also tented in the patio and it looks like they may be serving people out there also. It was a bit cold last night, so I was not going to test the efficiency of whatever heaters they have out there, but luckily we arrived early enough that the main area was not overly full and had seating.

Food as always was top notch, service was very efficient and friendly.

I happened to see the owner, and again asked him when the Milwaukee Ave. location is going to open, and he said it will be summer now. There was more work than they expected and there was some outside work that needed to be done (I didn't ask for specifics) but the winter months will not allow them to accomplish some of it.

Any new, recent intel? I'm consider taking my in laws here tomorrow, but they are elderly and there is no way they are standing in line to order for 30+ minutes. Is calling in an order still an option? Anyone had any success? I see an Online Order link on their website, but it looks like it is only for pick up.

Any new additions to the menu I should be aware of?

There is a large white board menu of special offerings in plain sight as soon as you walk in. There are also printed menus with their regular fare available for perusing in line. Why don't you check out the menus without actually getting in line, decide what you want to order, then get your in-laws seated while you stand in line to place the order.

Depending on when you get there you can now order from the tables. We were there early on a Friday a few weeks ago and the place was half empty. We were seated at a table and handed menus. If it's crowded I would imagine you still have to wait in line but they will likely allow your elderly in-laws to sit while you wait in line.

As for suggestions, on my last visit I discovered the shrimp in feta sauce appetizer. It's an entree-size portion and its terrific.

Wheeling is definitely a nice restaurant! Big, beautiful with a large full bar.

If you do have a bent for the nostalgic and a desire to visit the original location this is a promising development!

The old location did have a certain charm where the new location reminds me a little of an Olive Garden.

Really a timing thing. The place was half empty so we were immediately led to an outside table and ordered from the waiter.

The following week we arrived later on a Saturday and had the usual line experience, but only took about 15 minutes (and my impatient wife just grabbed a table about 5 minutes into the wait leaving me in line).

A recent meal was more of a mixed bag than usual. The fried whitefish tasted very fishy and was avoided by everyone. More problematic were the smelts. They were big and meaty — how could that be a bad thing, you ask? Well, when they’re that big, I think they really should be deboned. Many emergency spinectomies later they were quite edible, but the first several bites were rather unpleasant.
