Did Alderman Waguespeck squash this one?

Maybe the "Felony Franks" alderman squashed it cause he thought the name was Chick-Felony? :P

I posted way up thread that a Golden Corral was built in Batavia in 2009 but never opened due to a foreclosure and all sorts of financial problems of the franchisee. They finally opened 11/18, last week. My partner is involved with some local charities and such and is encouraged to try local businesses. We went Wednesday for lunch...( hey it was so foggy we could hardly find our way out of town!!) We got there about 11 and it was pretty much empty. Food we got was basically OK but everything was salty. Salad bar real limited as was about everything else. They do have people managing every station and attempting to refill ASAP. I had burger sliders that were pretty good but only one was available and 5 minutes to a new batch. My partner is pescaterian, the flounder Florentine was awful and the only other choice was "fried shrimp" which was questionable. The main problem was that about the time we were ready to leave, they got bombed with 4 bus loads of kids. The teens all flocked to the pizza, pasta and Mexican stations and you could not move around. In between were small kids running at full steam with skewers of strawberries dipped in chocolate from the chocolate fountain. The food was barely so-so. We did our service to community by trying a place that is bringing jobs and revenue into our small town but we will never go back. I'm not fighting off kids and chaos for sub par food.

BTW, a Chick-fil-A is being built a little bit north on Randall. I will never go.... don't like chicken and my partner is a vegetarian who will eat fish.

Chick-fil-A is looking to roost at State and Lake streets, according to a work order on the site that once housed Johnny Rockets and Halsted Street Deli, which have since closed.

Back in the mid 90s when I'd get to Atlanta quite a bit, I always though the chicken nuggets were fantastic. Maybe because the nuggets were that good or maybe because I was impressed that the chicken was actual wholemuscle meat, not fabricated or maybe because my taste buds liked that profile back then. Fast forward after nearly 13 years of never having Chick-Fil-A and my recent purchase of the nuggets and I wonder why I thought they were terrific.

In Chik-Fil-A's defense those kale folks kind of brought this on themselves. When asked to describe what kale tasted like they probably shouldn't have said "Ummm, it tastes like chicken". :)

Agree. You steal somebody's idea and then complain when they take offence ... and of course, you bask in all the attention that it brings.

If you actually looked at the eatmorekale T-Shirt guys web site (note that they sell T-shirts, not kale), stealing someones idea is far from the reality of what is going on in this case. He even has the support of the Governor of Vermont. Chick-Fil-A's contention that using the words "eat more" anything hurts their bottom line is absurd and all too typical of the jerks that they have already shown themselves to be in other ways.

So anyone that uses the phrase "eat more ______" is stealing the idea of having a cow making a sign that reads "eat mor chikin?"

Nobody used "eat more" until Chick-Fil-A thought of it?

I had one this morning, was quite good. I would have liked the biscuit a bit less dense but seeing as last night was a long one, the dense biscuit w/fried chicken goodness was just what the doctor ordered. Thankfully there isn't a convenient Chick Fil A close to where I live.

Elmhurst is about to get its cluck on.

Chick-fil-A, the popular Atlanta-based chicken sandwich chain, is opening on Route 83 on Feb. 6. It's the first of two suburban locations opening this month. Another will come on Feb. 13 at 7101 Kingery Highway in Willowbrook.

Chick-fil-A Inc.'s latest Chicago-area restaurant is opening March 27. The North Riverside location at 7201 W. Cermak Road is the third spot to start serving the Atlanta-based chain's famous breaded chicken sandwiches. Other local openings: A Deer Park location, which is looking to open in September, and a Schaumburg location, which Chick-fil-A plans to open in November.

Third spot in terms of what? The author of this article couldn't even bother to do some due diligence to know that there are locations in Warrenville, Lombard, Orland Park, Schaumburg, Vernon Hills, Crystal Lake, Bolingbrook, Oswego, Chicago Ridge and Aurora? I might have to complain about lazy journalism.

They were passing out small dixie-cup sized peach milkshakes today at the State/Lake store downtown. Damn, was that one fine tasting milkshake, not just for a fast food joint, but for any kind of place. Took a trip to their website to find out that the ingredients list is a bit longer than their famously-short lemonade list. Nevertheless, their free sample just booked some future sales from me.

That's good to hear. Growing up in the northern suburbs, I was one of the many who eagerly anticipated Peacock's peach ice cream becoming available in the summer. For years, everyone I knew would count on peach ice cream, peach sundaes, and peach milkshakes at Peacock's. It was almost more a sign of summer than the weather. Since they've gone away, I haven't found a good substitute for that classic summer experience. Maybe I have now.

Hi- Homer's in Wilmette has the best peach ice cream in the area, and somebody rated it as the best peach ice cream in the country. They only offer it during Michigan peach season, and so it is available from probably the middle of July until the middle of September. I know they sell it in some other locations, but I am not sure where. I have to go there at least once in August, and get my fix.

Perhaps you have found your substitute, but for a more old school/local resource, check out this old thread from way back when.

Thanks for the link, Steve. Those places look mighty inviting -- and definitely old school in the best possible way. Chick-fil-A has the advantage of being closer, but I've noted the other options, for when I'm farther from home.
