I hope things work out for them - we have been going to Taco Grill since they opened and got to know one of the waitresses very well. The workers are still friendly but the owner has been crabby and really giving an attitude when you ask for a water instead of their pop. The salsas too are limiting - I love hot food but many of the salsa are EXTREMELY hot to the point that you really can't enjoy them. Likewise, here is usually only 1-2 mild salsas which taste like doctored tomato juice. Our visits are much less frequent at this point

I ate at Fonda Isabel once and it was awful. Food and service. The waiter kept running back to the kitchen so often we suspected he was helping cook the food. Which was very bad.

So if it is the same owners.....

We ate at the new Taco Grill in Lombard on Saturday for lunch. I had the Tacos al Pastor and my wife had the steak tacos. I found the Pastor to be it's usual good self. My wife's steak however was really lacking in flavor. The salsas were good but what really knocked us out was the Margarita! They were fantastic and might be our driving force to pick there instead of somewhere else (all other things being similar).

This place is really good, and my favorite Mexican place to go on my lunch breaks. I usually go here once every week or two. If you come here, you absolutely must try the al pastor. You'll see it cooking on the vertical broiler as soon as you walk in. It's probably the best mexican food in dupage county.

After finding out my initial lunch plan, Los Dos, is closed today Taco Grill fit the bill nicely.
Three al pastor tacos was the perfect amount of food for a nice lunch for me.
I tried the first one as is from the kitchen and I'm glad I did. The meat really shines through on these.
The second I tried with the mild red salsa and I'm sad to say that not even a generous amout of pickled jalepeno could liven it up. I really think the first one was better naked that with the addition of the mild red salsa.
The XX green salsa saved that day though. Nice tang without going over the top.

I'm glad I got re-routed here today and I'll certainly be returning.

Yeah, the mild is really bland. Sometimes what I like to do is blend the straight up habanero salsas with some of the mild. The XXXX habanero is way too hot on it's own for me, but I love the fruity heat from them so the mild cuts the heat enough while keeping the flavor of the habanero salsa.
