I had a sad brunch experience at Blind Faith a few weeks ago. I used to love the restaurant in college too. I obsessed over the vegan cupcakes, tricking myself into thinking that the inch-high icing was made of some kind of health food. (In retrospect it must have been margerine. They were really delicious.)

In any case, I thought it was a safe recommendation for a pre-graduation meal that wouldn't be too crowded. Unfortunately, my chiliquiles were soggy too and everything was pretty bland. I may go back for some of the dinner options. I've been in the last few years and liked some of the salads with fake meat. While I'm not a huge fan of fake meat in general, I like it as an occasional novelty item and I remember it being ok, if not stellar.

I completely agree that Tweet's vegan and vegetarian brunch items has Blind Faith beat hands down.

Then try the Drunken Poblano Pepper at M. Henry, scrambled eggs, cheese, avocado, black beans and soy chorizo in a poblano pepper with a great adobo-y sauce and a side of arepas.

If I had to base vegetarian cooking on the offerings of Blind Faith, I would never touch a fruit or vegetable again (yeah I said it, most diners have better vegetarian/vegan offerings). Even when I went to NU, a very long time ago, I preferred the Macrobiotic vegetarian place west of the El on Dempster to Blind Faith (blech!).

I just recalled things looking okay & tasting, as DH would say, "of matter".

I'm thrilled to have an excuse to go to M. Henry. I usually have their breakfast sandwiches but that sounds delicious.

Yummy Yummy on Broadway in East Lakeview has the best Asian vegetarian take-out menu. Their House Special list has various Soy Gluten, Soy Protein and Seiten dishes. I usually pick up dinner there every Sunday night.

Agreed. That's exactly why I'm hosting next weekend's Vegetarian Small Household Exchange there!

You can always sign up for just lunch & meet others on the board. There's space.
