My wife and I went with another couple to Platiyo with moderate to high expectations. I'm sure we had read some relatively good review, and the place has good genetics. Anyway, this other couple still wields the Platiyo suggestion against us as a sword when they don't want to go along with our proposal for a night out.
The meal took five hours to complete, and not in a "We're enjoying a veritable cornucopia of culinary delights" kind of a way. It just took forever for each stage of the evening to unfold -- from being seated, to receiving menus, to placing drink orders, etc.
But all of this was prelude. Platiyo is a Mexican restaurant, and most of the entrees come with some kind of side of beans and/or rice. However, by the time our entrees were finally served, they had somehow run out of these two crucial ingrediants, and took it upon themselves to substitute mashed potatos. They actually serve mashed potatos as a side for a couple of dishes, like salmon or pork chops, I think. Nevertheless, the arrival of enchiladas sitting upon a mound of mashed potatoes, and the waiter's explanation (I should note that the staff seemed equally horrified by what was unfolding that evening, and I think they would have done anything they could have to fix it) that the kitchen had run out of beans and rice, encapsulated the entire experience perfectly.
