Those of you who have been lately, what sandwiches have you been enjoying?

BTW, if anyone is interested in joining a fellow LTHer for dinner, I'll be having dinner at the 26 E Congress location ~5:30pm on Tues Aug 20.

My office recently moved from the tourist and scenic oasis of the Hancock to the suburban commuter heaven above Union Station. That puts me in striking distance of the Cafecito on Wells. I wandered over there yesterday and joined the line out the door. It moved quickly though. After reading this thread, I decided to start my menu exploration with the Cubano. I have no authority to say how authentic it was -- it seemed to be a nicely prepared sandwich. I didn't love it though, but that's my personal taste and has nothing to do with the quality of the sandwich. I look forward to eating my way through the menu because there are many delicious sounding items on it.

I'm there roughly every other day for breakfast or lunch. I could probably do every day but I like to keep current on other offerings in the 'hood. Had a great sandwich at BaLe the other day.

I'm still fond of the choripan, although its excellence sometimes depends on how well (or over-well) the sausage is cooked. By the way, if you're there for dinner and the black bean soup is on the menu, give it a try.

I have a weekly lunch out in the loop with a coworker and we try to only hit places where you can get a reasonable amount of food for $10 or less. This definitely fit the bill and is the best one we've tried yet. I got the Ropa Vieja (old clothes) which is skirt steak, a tomato-based sauce, platanos maduros, and black beans. When combined with a little El Yucateco (habanero-based hot sauce) it was truly fantastic, hitting the salty, sweet, and spicy trifecta. Great prices and just the right amount of food for the middle of the workday, imo. Definitely planning to go back and try other menu items, but it'll be hard to go past the Ropa Vieja.

agreed to both items mentioned by jbw. I also enjoyed the ropa vieja sandwich.

Cubano from the Wells St. location hit the spot today, I was desperate after an awful version at Goodwins (I should have known better)
