If you are planning a "Road Trip" to Racine Bakery, consider trying:
Kugel. Order what you want, cut in slices & fry in some butter. Top with sour cream. Bought last week. have not tried
has been good in the past.
Jellied Meat. Mostly shredded pork. Been very good in the past. Bought the other day, disappointing. Made fresh daily
    inconsistent with the cook.
Smoked Butt. Bought the other day. NOT OFF THE HOT BAR. They have whole ones put away. Tasted very good. Very little fat.
Just smoked. NOT COOKED. We simmer for 45 minutes, then in oven, 325, apricot glaze for 30 minutes or so.
Polish Sausage is OK, Lithuanian Sausage NO Flavor.

A few miles east, Archer & Cicero is Bobaks. They have big selection of items + a hot bar with tables to east.
Might as well make it a 2-FOR.

Found very good polish sausage, Montrose Deli, a few blocks east of Hagens Fish.on Montrose.

I can't further the debate as I haven't been to Bridgeport Bakery but I did go to Racine Bakery recently.

The Bacon Buns at Racine are certainly delicious & well worth a stop. Both cold & then reheated in an oven, they were excellent.

I tried a couple of other items as well. Oatmeal cookies & a mushroom pastry (filled with a mushroom pate & about 3-4" long).

did not like the cookies very much, not a lot of flavor and VERY dry/mealy. (I did like that they put whole rolled oats in the mix)

The mushroom pate item was better when heated but still nothing I need to try again.

I will be back for the bacon buns and perhaps even do a side to side tasting with some from Bridgeport.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Bridgeport Bakery closing at the end of October, 2019.
BRIDGEPORT — Those looking to have Bridgeport Bakery’s pumpkin pie, Kugelis, apple slices and other dessert delights on their Thanksgiving table this year will have to go elsewhere, as the Bridgeport institution will close at the end of this month after serving the community for more than 47 years.

    Noooooooooo!

Went this past weekend with the kids - dozen doughnuts, apple slice, pumpkin slice, taffy apple, and some cookies - all so tasty, and only $20

    Big loss for the neighborhood

Owner Ron Pavelka is selling the business to retire, said baker Barbara Betourney by phone. Betourney will also retire after working for Pavelka since “the day he opened on Jan. 26, but I don’t remember the year” she said.
