Blackbird is holding a dinner on May 22 featuring snails from Burgundy, which they are calling "the kobe beef of snails". The price is $125, which includes white burgundy (chardonnay) pairings. Apparently, May 22 is national escargot day.

I read something on the internet that said that this dinner was "in conjunction with" National Escargot Day but on further review I agree with Mr. Hammond's date.

Gaetano's has an escargot dish on his specials menu--I don't know how often he changes his special menu, but, its been available at my most recent visits. The escargots are served "Cocotte di Funghi"--a generous number of escargot served in a truffle broth with fresh mushrooms covered by a perfectly cooked egg. The dish is served in a shallow baking dish with a side of freshly baked "Bomba Bread"--a pillowy bread made in their wood burning oven. One of the best dishes I've had in some time.
