Just hit Paik's Noodles up for the first time, and what I had, I LOVED.
I went with the Spicy JJamppong with pork and squid, and an order of the Hong Kong Wings. Also tried the fried pork dumplings, which I was less enthusiastic about, but the soup noodles and wings were freekin' great.
The soup's broth was an intense red, however, it wasn't too spicy, just a touch above richly warm with spice, but not anywhere near "hot." Nice flavor to it. I really liked it. I think I slurped about 20 spoons of straight broth before even trying anything else, because I liked it so much. The slivers of pork were kinda scarce, but I had a good 5 mussels (in the shell,) and a handful of squid bits too. Very fond of this soup they have here. VERY fond.
The wings - I just thought they were fantastic. Decently spicy, not too sweet. Piping hot, and ultra crispy. Their other wing option was soy/garlic. I'm trying both next time.
Tablemate 1 ordered the beef/shrimp noodle soup and was much less enthralled with their choice. They noted it kinda bland, but decent.
Tabelmate 2 ordered the pork/squid stir fried noodle and absolutely loved it. FWIW, he's an Asian fella.
As an Aside:
Tous Les Jours Sweet Rice Donut is out of this world. Like a Sesame Ball minus the sesame seeds, and the chewy outer coating has a pancake-ish goodness to it - a step above the regular sesame balls you find in Asian bakeries.
Best lunch I've had in a LONG time.
