There's a giant fkin' green sticker on the front door on the place. It's awfully hard to pretend what's happening isn't happening. The elephant's in the room for all to see. People just want to know what's going on -- that doesn't mean anyone is being kicked or that there's even anything unseemly about it.

To all: please, remain calm and civil.

Sorry to hear this news and above all, I hope Gus is healthy. It has been way too long since I was last at WASC, but I haven't been to Evanston much in the last couple of years.

This is horrible news. I was pretty much a regular at WASC I think - but have been travelling and out-of-town recently. I had a tendency to stop in for their Weiner Wednesdays every week or two (about 2 bucks for a dog-and-fries..a very solid dog of any kind - I sometimes went char-dog - and IMHO the best fries in Chicagoland). Every once in a while Id actually grab the outstanding burger-and-fries - and, when they had it, the completely brilliant poutine-burger-and-fries! Gus was always friendly, and provided terrific food.

I do hope this gets resolved favorably also - it will leave, IMHO, a gaping hole (for me personally at least). Its not an area thats *awful* for that kind of food I suppose - Poochies, even though in Skokie, is down the street; Edzo's is in Evanston too. But, living in Skokie, I drove past Poochie's every time to go to Evanston - and always chose WASC over Edzo's too. And that was because, at least to me, the burgers were far better at WASC - and they had IMHO the best fries in the Chicagoland area. (I used to rate them #2 in fries behind Top Notch in Beverly - but its harder to get to Beverly from Skokie, and 2 of the last 3 trips to Top Notch yielded just "ok-to-good" fries, while WASC's were almost always fantastic, fresh out of the fryer every time).

I hope Gus and the rest of the crew are doing well, and that the will return soon - in some form or the other.

Sad to hear that WaSC is closed.

I helped Gus set up his website. Basically just made him a Blogger template and gave him the keys to it and it was fun to see all the cool stuff he did with it.

I still have access to the website, so I've updated it to reflect that it is no more. I suppose I'll let the domain names expire in November, since there's no business to keep them attached to. (I had been renewing the website domains - both spellings - since I had first helped him set it up way back when.)

Hey folks, I figured I'd throw this out there. I no longer live in Chicago and have no clue what's going on with Gus, but I do have the domain names for WaSC. Since he is MIA I was planning to let the domain names expire in November. If anyone here would like to have the domains transferred to them, maybe to keep an eye on them until/in case Gus resurfaces, let me know and I'll be happy to oblige. You can contact me on www.aliverson.com if interested.
