Or an eastside Wild Onion Tied House? I've been disappointed too many times to get too excited about this, but it's nice to see something happening on the Austin side of town.

I don't think Petra Falafel in Forest Park has been mentioned in this thread. Went there for lunch on Monday. Food was standard, perfectly acceptable Middle Eastern food (nothing stood out). I recommend delivery or take-out; while the room is nice, the service was really aloof and generally uncomfortable.

I had a good visit on January 3rd the day after it opened. Food was pretty good!

    The owner seemed friendly enough.

Well, if One Lake's food prices make you wince, you can opt for the el-cheapo  Church's Chicken across Austin Blvd. in Chicago. :D

When they mentioned the kitchen was closed I strolled over to the railing and looked longingly kiddycorner. :)

    Ended up at Ino’s instead.

Those prices match Carnivore’s prices when they visit Kinslager. That is known as top notch.

Maybe they’ve always been there but they have subdivided the awning to include.

I’ve never seen the attraction for rolled ice cream as I feel you get less product for maybe more money.

    Just another gimmick. :)

    Free cupcake too.

The restaurant was busy and the service slow. Food? Pretty good for what it was.

I had visited the old restaurant, La Leyenda Taco and thought it was good as well. Same owners but since the old cook went back to Mexico they thought they would switch things up.

Wide varieties of meats available but no pastor spit.

I am not sure they will be able to replace Ino’s on Roosevelt.

Well, that was a good run. Drove by a while ago and thought they were closed. Swung by today and confirmed. Banner down, lights off.

    I knew they couldn’t compete with Ino’s. :)

I have a faint memory of the old menu. I was only there twice. I think I had a panini or something...

I’d probably go for the brisket sandwich (they claim to smoke meat in-house) and if they can succeed I’ll try the Philly.

Maybe work through their smoked meat list? Mmmm... Pastrami.

    I unexpectedly excited.

Soft shell crab sandwich at Carnivore today absolutely rocked. They price it at the cost of crab +$3 for a sandwich and fries, so the 2-crab model was a bit of a splurge but well worth it and about the same price as the Boston Fish version, but maybe slightly better.
