Believe it or not, I've had my fill o'lobster the last couple weeks. First, when Sunset Foods had their 'Lobsterpalooza' special recently, I had a bunch of folks to the house & ordered cooked lobsters for $10.95 apiece. I was expecting small 'chicken' lobsters--as they call them in New England--but these were at least 1 1/4 pounds apiece, some of them up towards a pound-and-a-half, very impressive. And they were really fresh-tasting--cooked I believe at the Highland Park store, then farmed out in individual containers to the other Sunsets. I picked mine up in Libertyville.

Of course, I had ordered extras for the specific purpose of making lobster rolls. With about 6 tails and other assorted claws & parts, I got to work using light mayo (but not too much), minced onion & celery, the juice of a lemon & a little Lawry's seasoned salt and cracked black pepper. Awesome, wish I had had twice as much.

Then...I was in Boston & Maine seeing family this last weekend, and checked out a lobster roll at the dive bar restaurant owned by the stepfather of a neighbor. The Anchor Bar & Grille in Beverly (about 15 miles due north of Boston) has a lobster roll for $14.95 with fries, and I would say there was easily a pound of lobster meat in it, a very good thing. BUT...as been stated above in this thread...it was only lobster meat & mayo, too much for my tastes. I guess this preparation IS the traditional method in New England, served in one of those split hot dog rolls, but I've gotta say I like mine a lot better.
