Not that we know what has happened or what is happening with PP in Desplaines but from tax story angle this sounds similar to this article about Nick's Roast Beef in Massachusetts which was also CASH ONLY and been in business for many decades got caught for tax fraud/skimming with the owner convicted.

From the article below about Nick's which sound similar in popularity to PP:

Still hitting it out of the park. Cheddar burger on black rye with grilled onions is just about perfect (maybe a little thicker schmear of Merkts). Crinkle fries perfectly crisp. They're not fast, but they are definitely good. They've put out more tables with unbelievable than I remember past seasons.

Weather was warm enough over the weekend to justify a half hour drive to Paradise Pup. I was rewarded handsomely for my effort.

Who said anything about local? I'm pretty sure Paradise Pup isn't sourcing from farmers markets. I suspect their version of out of season lines up with large grocery stores, where fresh strawberries are readily available.

Just pointing out their odd reasoning. I purchased raspberries and strawberries over the weekend although they are clearly not in (our) season.

Food's great, they just have odd justifications for their choices.

They're a hot dog/burger joint--"seasonal" likely means "what we feature this month because we feel like it" and has nothing to do with the froufrou meaning. Can't imagine why this would matter here.
