Gotcha. Yes, there is now again. They closed 3+ years ago and the building was bought by an investor after that. After a few years and some set backs, they finally got to remodeling everything and finally did a soft opening the other day (minus the bar and some tanning beds they installed). So the answer is yes, there's now a steam/sauna/bathhouse going for the first time in 3+ years in that building. I am guessing it's still more of a Russian Banya as it was never really a legit Turkish Hamam (unfortunately). Good nonetheless.

I am just as excited for the food and the bar. It of course is a Russian inspired menu, but the executive chef there does have some credentials (Rodan, Japonais, L2O). We'll see how this turns out. It's good to see something new popping up, even if it used to be there for a long time. It is something different for the area (again) too.

I'm planning to go the end of next month with a couple of co-workers. Hoping the food will be better (dare I hope cheaper too?) than at Sweatlodge.

    Frank's Shrimp House, NW side.

    Moved.

Finally opened their new storefront to 5052 W. Irving from their old place on W. Addison Ave, here on the NW Side.

Tonight was the first day/night they had the fryers going.

Hmmm ... looks like that nice patio will be gone given everything they plan for the space - I was never impressed with the food but Tilli's was a great spot to meet a friend, get a decent salad and sit for ages outside chatting ... I'll miss that.

Carm's Beef Closes Its Doors Permanently

Carm's Beef, a local Tinley Park restaurant, closed its doors the week of Jan. 21. A note on the door states the reason for the closure as 'a lack of support'.

Sad to see the Carm's store close. Carm's was my intro to Italian Beef many, many years ago at it's first store on Cicero and the Ike. I followed it to it's Berwyn locations and on to the Hillside site in later years. The sandwiches were always good IB's, but they were more enjoyable to me for the distinctive Carm's taste that would bring on the great memories of those earlier years when the '57 Chevy would make the late night stop at the Cicero Carm's for a bag of beefs.

Well, at least Joe and Steve both supported Carm's, judging from the photos on the wall of the Tinley Park place.

Also, as noted here, Pizza D.O.C. in Lincoln Square has been rebranded Himmel's and changed the menu to more of a European bistro concept (but pizza is still on the menu).

    Hi,

The chef-owner of Pizza D.O.C. taught a DankHaus cooking class. I wasn't there, though I heard she had pizzas brought over from her restaurant.

Maybe returning to her German roots is a good thing, especially since there are so few German restaurants.

Our new Parisian inspired restaurant at 534 N. Clark Street will be opening in mid-Winter. Sexy, small, intimate and refined, this new 50 seat "dinner only" restaurant will captivate you with the design, textures and style of modern Paris.
