I'm not familiar with the area at all, but because of various reasons, several friends and I are meeting there for coffee/light snacks. The present suggestion is Starbucks, at Kostner & Irving Park, but I prefer avoiding Starbucks. Can anyone more familiar with that area suggest somewhere else? To give you an idea, last time we met at Taste of Heaven, and I'm going to be suggesting Julius Meinl next time.

    Thanks!

As I live down the block from that Starbucks, I have to tell you there's nothing like Meinl, etc around here.

There's Java Thai a little East on Irving, - I want to like it, but it's a weird place. Kind of dark, they used to have a thai menu but don't anymore. The bagel sandwiches are good though.

The Golden Nugget on Irving is actually decent. Brewed Iced Tea, ok coffee, clean inside and waitresses that know their regulars by name.

There's McNamara's - the Irish Pub - it's fine, I've not been for brunch though.

Thanks for the recommendation! We went there and really liked the place - I know one of my friends wants to go back.

the owner of Frappe is trying hard to get his liquor license, but now that he's not backing the incumbent(sp?) Alderman it might be difficult until the political climate changes in the 45th Ward.

Bump. I think Frappe is closed. Looking for something like OP described for this afternoon. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

FWIW, we didn't find a cafe near Six Corners. We headed north to Cafe Soroni since we were airport-bound anyway, but it's closed on Sundays. We ended up at the bar directly across the street from the Jefferson Park transit station--friendly place. They were passing around a platter of hot dogs to feed the few but enthusiastic sports watchers and were kind enough to include us.

Yes between the economy and the Milwaukee Avenue construction (now completed on this stretch) several businesses failed quickly at that location. Hoping better for the new place.

I was going to reply with some places but the poster seemed like they were looking for a place immediately and I didn't read their post until 10 hours later which wouldn't have helped their situation.

They are posting to a thread years old.
