Any ideas for a belated Valentine's Day meal near the Landmark?

There's a good roundup of that area in this thread.

    Best,

We went to Matisse. If there is ever a contest for the most confounding restaurant in Chicago, Matisse would get my vote. The food is exceptional as far as bar food goes. It's convenient to the Landmark and it's relatively inexpensive. They have a Cuban pulled pork wonton appetizer and a salmon entree that are surprising sophisticated. But the service there is almost always abysmal. They did not have a wine list printed so the waitress called the hostess over who could tell us that they had wine "cabernate, syrah ..." but not much more information like winery or vintage. For dessert our lava cake came dry in the middle. When we asked the waitress about it, she went to talk to the chef who told her that sometimes he overcooks it and the lava part dries up but if we would like, she could squirt some chocalate sauce on it for us.
