    Hi all

wanted to say a little bit about my new neighbor. We tried South last Friday, and at 830 pm it was full. Nice to see it busy, because the Room was usually quiet.

It's still BYOB and a 5$ corkage fee. We had:
--crabcake app. - large cake settled in mango sauce, with some bits of hot peppers throughout. It was good, not great, as I was expecting crispy outside and creamy inside, instead it was a little pasty, as if they used too much flour in the crab mix.
--pecan crusted grouper: again not crispy. Had a good flavor but as it cooled the texture of the fish got spongy. The spinach it was served with was excellent.
--Quail in 2 mole sauces. The quails were nicely cooked but the mole was not as good as I thought it could be. Again a pasty texture.
--Coca Cola Cake: sweet, dense, a good ending. Kind of like devil's food but more sugary.

I think they can work the kinks out. We're glad to have our neighborhood place back, and will try again in a month or two.

Sorry for not posting the address earlier - I actually don't have the true # but it is about 5900 North Broadway. Right next door to Moody's, and approx. 1200 West.

Is this the same ownership retooling the concept, or a whole new restaurant? Just curious. Never made it to The Room because it seemed fairly pricey (for our budget) and there a number of very iffy reports.
