Geneva seems to be spawning restaurants to a point where I haven't been able to catch up on them. Last week my partner was off of work so we tried a few places in Geneva and elsewhere.

Sanfratello's has been mentioned in a thread on the South Suburbs and I didn't want to ad to that and have their new Geneva location get lost. They occupy a large and very visable space on State Street just a block west of the Fox River. The location had been a showroom for Pella windows so it has very large windows on 2 sides and for a high ceiling, is pretty quiet. My partner was in need of pasta otherwise we might not have tried as I'm not a big fan but figured they would have something I would eat. My partner wound up with a heaping plate of mostaccioli that was lightly sauced with a hearty tomato/basil based sauce and enough pasta to make 2 more meals at home. I had a grilled sirloin sandwich which was very tender and cooked to the rare side of medium as I asked it to be. Fries were $1 extra and were very crisp. Pizza at a near by table looked very good with a thin crisp crust. I thought it a little pricey, $8.50 for my sandwich plus a extra buck for the fries and $9 for the mostaccioli.

Nosh bills itself as "an experience" and it was in that the room was ruled by one screaming child who when not screaming (rare) was crawling under everyone's table. When this family left there was a noticable relief all around and you could actually hear background music and quiet conversation (BTW- there were at least 10 or more other very well behaved children present in the room) Nosh is open for breakfast and lunch with an emphasis on breakfast and some interesting creations. The lady at a table next to me had hot chocolate french toast, a heaping stack with a really strong smell of sugar and chocolate. It was noon so we ordered lunch, me the cuban and my partner had caprese focaccia sandwich. Both were good as were the very crisp cajun fries. The cuban had a shredded mixture of pork and ham on top of a mojito sauce and garlic aioli, it was done as a paninni and cut in to 4 pieces. The menu has a touch of South American to it with items such as "coasta rican breakfast" which is eggs served over pink beans and jicama slaw and "migas de pan de piperade" which a spanish bread salad with eggs, pepper, onions and goat cheese. Other items were crab cakes benedict, mars bar hotcakes and pear polenta with goat cheese. Nosh does have a liquor license and serves beer and wine but their specialty is the black currant and mango minosa. Nosh is a little hard to find as it is located off the parking lot behind the Merra-Lee shops at the corner of State and Third.

Thanks for the new reports here and on Caponata's, LTE.

Lightly sauced, eh? That alone tempts me, though I fear lightly sauced might just mean doused but not floating, which is light by West Sub saucing standards.

    Feeling (south) loopy

Can't figure out a better way to explain the sauce but it was definately not goopy or floating, there is much more noodle showing through than sauce and the noodles are still firm after 3 days as leftovers in the fridge.

I did forget to mention that Sanfratello's is an outpost with other places in Glenwood, Tinley Park, Highland Ind. and Dyer Ind.
