I have a friend visiting Chicago next week and he asked me this question...and I drew a blank. I make a trip twice a year to Chicago with my family and each time a group of about 12-14 family members all go dowtown for some sightseeing and such. Inevitably we always go out for pizza, and it's always to one of the "biggies" known for deep/stuffed but then we order thin crust because the kids can't wait! Over the last several years we have hit Gino's East, Giordano's, Uno/Due, Joey Buona's (RIP), Pizano's, Lou Malnati's, and most recently, Bella Bacino's.
My question:
Who has the best thin crust pizza in the downtown tourist/shopping area? Loop, Gold Coast, Mag Mile, Museum campus area. Not interested in a super trendy place, just some solid thin crust pizza (I'm thinking along the lines of Aurelio's, Home Run Inn, Pat's, etc). I'd be interested in comments on the big deep/stuffed places for thin and especially those that are thin only and may be hidden gems because of their non-tourist angle.
Bob in RSM, CA...yes, I know, it's a long way from Chicago
