My husband spent four months in Berlin this spring, and when I visited him, I became hooked on Berlin-style doner kebabs.
I have read some threads having to do with this topic, but it seems that most of the doners mentioned are served in (gasp) actual restaurants, instead of hole-in-the-wall joints and have prices to match.
Oddly enough on my husband's return, I was picking him up from downtown and he happened to be standing next to a soon to be opened place that advertised doners. (The Doner Kebab House, 201 N. Clark)
Just last week, the craving hit again and we went on a Thursday evening, but alas, they were closed already. We looked inside the food court (good sign!) and the menu looked about right, but everything was packed up for the night, so no other clues.
I really want to try one, but have to think twice about taking off work for an untried place. I was wondering if anyone has tried them already or would be willing to do my exploring for me and report back?
Thanks.
