Things
have changed! If you haven't seen the neighb in a while, you may be surprised.
There are no huaraches on Lawrence under the tracks now, but the open late options in the immediate vicinity are Agami, a kinda swanky sushi place, discussed
here and elsewhere if you search on the name. It's kind of cool inside, and while I am not really knowledgeable in the sushi department, I have enjoyed their rolls, but have always gotten takeout. Not at all cheap. They're open until around midnight, later on weekends, and are just south of the Riv on Broadway.
Also nearby and open late is Silver Seafood (Chinese), which is also discussed in several threads if you search for the name. They've had ups and downs, but I've had very good shrimp there, and I consider them moderately priced. They're open until 1, I think, on the weekends, 11 or 12 during the week. It's on the east side of Broadway, just north of the Just Tires north of Lawrence.
Fat Cat is the newest thing open nearby--a rather nice bar with food. I've only been in there once, and would avoid the black bean burger. The fried mac & cheese was very good. SW corner of Lawrence & Gunnison.
There's always
Fiesta Mexicana, just north of the Green Mill on Broadway, but I don't know how late they're open. Hit and miss, but ok. Carmela's tacos, are pretty decent, on Lawrence just west of Broadway, certainly inexpensive. Don't know the hours of those, however. Don't know enough about Broadway Grill, right on the corner, to comment--just had a distinctly fair grilled cheese once. Good luck!
