I searched for reviews of the sushi bar inside Eatzi's on Clark St but couldn't find anything so I thought I would ramble here a bit and post my comments.
The girlfriend and I were attending the Int'l film festival upstairs and decided to try the sushi bar. The sushi bar does have a unique name but it escapes me and is not listed on the register receipt.
We were able to select a bottle of wine from the cooler and the folks at the bar happily obliged.
Let me preface by saying we are new at sushi. I had it for the first time in Cabo San Lucas, BCS and I convinced the girlfriend to try it at Matsu Shita on N. Lincoln. We are becoming big fans but need to learn more (after all what do a Mexican and Honduran really know about sushi).
We use TWO criteria in judging all food - Is it tasty and was it good value.
We have to say YES to both for the sushi bar inside Eatzi's.
We both began with Miso soup, then moved on to Alaska Maki, New Yorker roll, Caterpillar roll, one ebi nigiri (she loves shrimp) and the best of the night was the GODZILLA roll.
That GODZILLA roll would have put a smile on Raymond Burr's face - oh my god. It had a crusty texture on the exterior that set it apart from the other rolls.
We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate and look forward to returning.
Later that night after the movie we drove to Evanston to just walk around. We came across a place called Blu Sushi, but again I could not find anyone's reviews. Comments about this location?
Is there any location in Chicago that offers classes on making sushi?
Thanks!
Pops - You are deeply missed. There are many baskets of tortillas yet to share. I hope they have good menudo and carnitas in heaven!
