Chili in Streeterville?

I have a hankering for some decent chili around Michigan Avenue.

I work off of Lake Shore Drive and Chicago.

I'm so bummed that the pita joint closed in Chicago Place. They had amazing vegetarian chili.

Any suggestions?

To my knowledge there are no chili parlors or any place remotely known for chili in Streeterville. I have had a passable version at Timothy O'tooles and also at the Potbelly's on Ontario/Fairbanks. The chili at Hot Diggity Dogs was suprisingly bad, the last time I had it. Too watered down, no chili or even beef flavor.

Unfortunately, if you want "knock your socks off" chili in this neighborhood, you're probably going to have to make your own.

Foodlife does a decent vegetarian and meat chilis. The soups and chilis of the day are available in the Foodlife market (where you don't need one of the cards) and in the Foodlife area proper. You might want to call ahead to see if chili is one of the soup offerings.

The Chicago Rib House on the NW corner of Chicago and Dearborn, which I believe used to be a sort of Tex-mex place under a different name, but I think the same ownership had really good Chili. It's a little out of range for a walking lunch these days, but their on-line still mentions "Santa Fe Chili". For what it's worth, anyway.

C N D Gyros serves chili, not great, but decent. I recall Rene G mentioning it in some context, though I can't be sure what it was.

Also, Fox & Obel, serves a quite tasty chili, I think every day during chili season, even if it is a bit more refined than your chili parlor chili.

This place has been closed and recently replaced with a relocated Iggy's.
