Took my bride and a friend from out of town last nite to Anteprima....had been there twice prior and was very impressed. Last nite was even better!! We shared some starters, vela meatballs in a sweeter tomato sauce...they were good but the sauce a bit on the sweet side for my taste but the others loved them. The Lamb Prosciutto which they get from Mario Batali's dads salumi place in Seattle was fantastic...IMHO better than the Parma pork version. It is served with some excellent goat cheese and with a caper/olive tapenade drizzled with a balsamic syrup..MMMM. I had the Oriechetti with Lamb Sausage and Bitter greens and it may be one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. Some chilies were incoroporated to give it a little zing and I wish I did not clean my bowl because I would love to have the leftover for lunch today. We also had the NY strip steak, Italian version with rosemary, olive oil, arugula and parmesan slivers. It was ultra tender and the flavors were great. Much different prep than a typical steakhouse but it was awesome. Also had the Pumpkin ravioli with brown butter and sage...perfectly cooked ans seasoned...great fall dish.
The owner, Marty?? i think, came over and we let him choose a couple great Italian wines that were very reasonable, 30-35 a bottle and they were super. He even gave us a complimentary taste of his version of an infused vodka that was very aromatic and not harsh at all for vodka.
All in all, great service, food was perfect......might be my favorite place in the City.
