Is there anyplace in the northern suburbs or North Side that has prepared & cooked roast duck that can be picked up on Thanksgiving Day?

My brother's doing a turkey in his small oven, and I can't count on the weather being conducive to grilling that day.

I'd be all over the BBQ duck at Sun Wah on Argyle, but I read that they're closed on Thursdays...

    Ah, duckkkkk.....

    Have you tried Cyrano's?

My husband and I have picked up (delicious) Thanksgiving dinner to-go on Thanksgiving morning a couple of times. I don't recall if he offers duck.

I ordered one a few years ago from Trotter's to Go. Expensive, but delicious.

    Hi,

I have seen smoked duck offered at Hecky's in Evanston.

They may be open on Thanksgiving since they do BBQ turkey for this occasion. Give them a call just to make sure.

There's an Asian market on Dempster in Morton Grove where you can get BBQ pork and roast duck, at least you used to be able to get them there. I haven't seen the pork and duck hanging in the window for a while so maybe they're not doing them any longer. It's called Richwell Market and I think they have a larger location in Chinatown.

Also, right across the street from Richwell, there is the Chinatown Express. I know I've seen whole roasted duck on the menu in the past
but don't know if they still prepare them. It's been a while since we've dined there (we like China Chef on Lincoln much better).

I don't know if Richwell is open on Thanksgiving. I'm pretty sure Chinatown Express is open as we had Thanksgiving dinner there one year.

I really liked Hecky's smoked duck when I had it a couple of years ago. It was quite smoky and the skin was crispy. My daughter's friends wolfed down four ducks and a turkey. You must order ahead.

    Jay,

Buy Mr. Duck from Sun Wah on Wednesday, they reheat quite well.

    Enjoy,

SUN WAH will be open on Thanksgiving.
I already called them for a confirmation.
From my previous experience, if you decide to drop off your turkey there to be BBQed for Thanksgiving, make sure that you buy a slightly bigger bird than you plan to serve since the turkey would shrink considerably after the fat dries out.
