parking around so gong dong

Hi all,
I was planning on going to So Gong Dong Tofu House some time over the weekend and was wondering if they have a parking lot or not. Or, what the street parking situation is around there (Bryn Mawr/Spaulding). We'd prefer to drive if possible (it's quite a hike from the south side), but if parking is going to be tough to find around there, we'd just rather take CTA. Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

There's plentiful street parking on that stretch of Bryn Mawr, so there's no need to take the CTA.

Actually, even if you don't take the CTA to dinner at So Gong Dong, you can still pretend you're on the 'L.' They have this chime that sounds every time the front door of the restaurant is opened. It's almost exactly the same tones that play when the doors are closing on the 'L.'

Enjoy your meal. I'm happy it's winter again so I can start eating sundubu chigae.

I've never had a problem finding parking there, although I can't remember if I've gone on weekends (probably - almost never go out on weeknights). We're usually getting there around 6:30-7:30. Along Bryn Mawr, it's metered parking. I have no idea about the side streets - never had to look there!

My friend and I went last night -- he got makgooksoo (spicy buckwheat noodles) and I got haemul soondubu. It was OK. I really liked that they made nooroongji, but I think I prefer the soondubu at San Chae Dol Sot, Cho Sun Ok, and CFC Snack Corner. It's been a while since I had it at Cho Sun Ok but I recall them putting large whole pieces of shrimp in their soondubu, whereas in the one I had last night, I found 2 tiny micro-shrimp the size of my pinky nail.

After dinner we took a walk down to Lawrence and Kedzie, stopped by Jaafer Sweets and got a 1/2 lb. baklava. The owner gave me 4 large pieces of the sesame and coconut bars that I'd been eyeing -- on the house. We walked back to Bryn Mawr and came across an awesome Korean cafe on Bryn Mawr. I don't know the name of this place but it was so cozy! It was a couple of doors down from outdoor Cafe, near Spaulding on Bryn Mawr. They have a ton of xmas lights up, and they serve pahtbingsoo and bubble tea. We enjoyed our baklava there and I got a deliciously thick mango bubble freeze and my friend got green tea latte. The coconut bars from Jaafer's were delicious, just like macaroons. Overall, awesome night. Does anyone know the name of this Korean cafe? I regret not getting the name before leaving.

I believe it's the New Outdoor Cafe.

So there's a place called New Outdoor Cafe next to Outdoor Cafe? We walked by, but did not go in, another Korean cafe two doors down and I think that was called Outdoor Cafe. Inside there were stepping stones on the floor and an outdoor patio atmosphere. The place we went to was two doors down and had very similar lay-out and decor. I will have to go back soon and will double check the name.

I'm thinking the "New Outdoor Cafe" and "Outdoor Cafe" are one and the same.

The nearby place, where the OP ended up, was probably Java & Mug.
