My wife and I really enjoy eating at restaurants with seating overlooking the kitchen. Not a solitary isolated table in the kitchen like Tru, but more a counter such as Roy's on State. I got some great recommendations to a query here earlier, thought I'd see if I could get some recommendations for some somewhat upscale Chicago restaurants (no diners thanks) with seating overlooking the kitchen. Thanks...

I'd suggest Avenues in the Peninsula. Also, here's a threadfor a similar request. Maybe that will give you some ideas.

    Avec, my friend.

I love restaurants. You're sitting there and all of a sudden, there's food. It's like magic.

It's not all the way to upscale (as in Avec), but my daughter and I had a very nice dinner at South Water Market, and I think I noticed a counter there.

Also if you're out in the burbs I'm not sure but I think I may have seen one at Osteria di Tramonto in Wheeling...

I know that 312 Chicago has 4 seats that are on the pass. I'm thinking that's kind of what you are looking for.
