Is it possible that anyone who reads this board and starts a thread called "Best pizza in Chicago," and then cites a place that's not even in Chicago, isn't trolling for disrespectful comments?

OK I just checked out their website and the pizza looks GOOD! And it , along with the other menu items seems cheap! Where on NW hwy is it? I take that street from Niles to go to my aunt's house around NW hwy and Euclid. Is it past that?

I travel the world and when people ask me where i'm from I say Chicago. I don't say "Arlington Heights Illinios which is a suburb of Chicago, but not technically whithin the city limits, but very close"

It's all the same-Don't act like we are in South Dakota and don't have any culture here. Please-

Yeah, but when speaking with a bunch of folks from Chicagoland (note the forum name), the distinction is useful.

Don't act like we are in South Dakota and don't have any culture here.

What do you have against the folks of South Dakota? Based on your recommendations here and elsewhere I would certainly suspect that South Dakota would meet (and probablyexceed) your cultural expectations, foodwise, at least.

Personally, I think that folks are being a little harsh where the Original Poster is concerned.

OK, so, the place isn't in Chicago. No big deal. It may have really good pizza if you decide to give it a try. I have to admit that, as a New York thin pie afficianado, it doesn't seem like my kind of place. But, to each his own, especially when it comes to pizza preference.

I recall a while back that a couple of posters had discovered a new rib joint and brought it to the attention of the board. Some folks here stated, without having tried it, that it couldn't be as good as the board favorite at the time, Lem's.

    That place was Honey1.

The purpose of this board is for discussion of great food and to introduce others to great food. Criticism like that the OP has received here, may discourage newer posters from making new recommendations. If that happens, as a community, it's our loss.

I have had the thin crust a couple of times from Waynes - once cooked and once frozen. When I picked it up for carry out, we ordered it with pepperoni. When I picked it up frozen, I topped it w/my own peppers and pepperoni at home. Their crust is very thin and crispy, even when I baked it at home. Both times were tasty, but I have to say their pizza is quite greasy. I don't know if it's the cheese or what.

South Dakota ?!?!? I studied about it. The Bible says you ought not to. It says if you do that, you go off to Hades. Some folks call it Hell, I call it Hades. rrrrrrrr

According to the guy on the phone when I ordered a pizza at Wayne's, their specialty is thin crust, so that's what I got.

    It was soggy.

Although they have the advantage of staying open till 1 a.m. on the weekends, and the sausage had good fennel seasoning, I haven't been tempted to try again. I figure if you can't get decent crust in a flat pizza, the deep-dish will be worse.

Anyone checking it out should be aware that Wayne's does carryout and delivery only.

We continue to get our pizzas from Edwardo's in Wheeling. Unfortunately, they close at 9 (10 on the weekends) and we live outside its delivery area. But I have yet to find a better pizza. (We are fans of Edwardo's stuffed pizza, ideally with sausage, mushrooms, pesto and garlic.)

I second that... Been going there for 20+ years and Joe's has been family owned for 40+ years. I just got back from Mexico and the first order of business was picking up a mushroom& sausage pizza from Joe's.

BTW...The wives of the two brothers, who run the Wheeling location, now run a second location in Palatine. It's right across from Torre & Lukes at Old 53 & Rand Rd.

My opinion around this forum is that if you don't live in Evanston, the north side of Chicago, or other trendy Chi neighborhood, you're just not worthy. I'm actually a little intimidated about posting here for fear the food or locale might not be acceptable to those of which i speak. Just an observation. :)

I'm not at all sure that's the case, but if you post about the best something in Chicago and say it's in East Jipip, you need to be prepared to back that up, pardner ;)

Well, I can't speak for anyone else. But there are many, many restaurants in outlying city neighborhoods as well as suburbs all over the area that get a lot of praise here, and people might even be a bit envious of living near them. You might be surprised. Just to throw out a few examples, places like Xni-Pec in Cicero, Flamingo's Seafood in Mount Prospect, and Vie in Western Springs get plenty of praise. And there are lots of reasons to live in one town vs another, everything from real estate values to proximity to work to schools etc, reasons which usually have little or nothing to do with food. There's no need to be embarrassed by where you live or feel that anyone thinks you're any less worthy or knowledgeable as a result. People here are more likely to form an opinion of you based on what you say, rather than where you live.

A little over 25% of the Great Neighborhood Restaurants (22 by my count) are located in suburban Chicagoland. I think the suburbs are well represented and represented well here.

One thing I will say is that I do not have a fancy palate and I always get great advice on where to go out. If I like a place I will tell you about it even if is more "simple food". I am really glad I found this forum. It all started with a quest for bbq.......

Moretti's in Edison Park has a great thin pizza...... I recommend the BBQ Blast it is a sweet BBQ sauce, diced chicken, pepperoni, red onions and celantro topped with cheese.
