Just moments after I had placed my carryout order at LSC tonight, the power failed and the place went dark. After a few tentative flickers, accompanied by a strong ozone smell, it went out for good. Suddenly, Tony swooped in to the rescue, running an extension cord from upstairs to power some work lights in the kitchen. The intrepid chefs hardly missed a beat at their gas-powered woks.

The servers lit votives throughout the place, and dining continued, more or less, now without the Packer game on TV, and no cash registers or credit card machines. I wondered how they could possibly collect for what they had already served, much less take new orders. When I inquired as to the fate of my order, Tony assured me it really would come out. Sure enough, it eventually did!

Fortunately, nobody had seen my shaking hands or the beads of sweat forming on my forehead at the prospect that I might not experience that hot, salty, sweet, crunchy wonderfulness I now can't live without for more than a week. So, with great relief I grabbed up my two orders of the magical stuff (one for me and one for our newly-addicted doorman) and headed out into the bitter cold.

GP60004 was on his way in as I was leaving. Gus, did they serve you, or did they shut down?

That's why the lights were so dim at LSC tonight!

I was there around 4:30 -- and the lights were oddly dim -- but we had a wonderful meal with no real bumps except for slower service than I'm used to. Tony came out when we paid the check to apologize for the lighting problem but we were so full and happy he could see we really couldn't care less.

And I did get my chicken crack. And those crispy shrimp in mayonnaise sauce too....

yummy yummy yummy....nothing like hot spicy food to warm you up when it's this dang cold outside.

Yes, I got my order and people were coming in and being seated and food was coming out. It didn't seem like they missed a beat.

Had to take my order to go though since the candles use to lite the dinning room was to dim.
