Dining room is taken over by a wine club on Sunday nites.
Constant glass tapping announcements followed by cheers and clapping.
Am certainly not a prude, generally enjoy the "lively" atmosphere but this was like being in a movie theater with some kid kicking/tapping your your seat from behind. Or how about the guy on the cell phone in the plane.

Honestly - did not know when the next outburst was going to happen. The anticipation was not delicious.

They did knock off $30 as "Goodwill" but would rather have done without the wine club.

Dined many times here with very good experience was very surprised that they would treat the other customers. this way

That said food/service was excellent as usual. Mussels/Short Ribs/Monkfish highly recommended.

Did you say something, or did the staff simply understand that you were putting up with an unpleasant situation?

My understanding is that the Sunday night, pay-in-advance wine club meals at OdT only offer wines and foods that are on their everyday menu. That doesn't seem like very much to get excited about, IMO.

Actually I am on their monthly newsletter list, the wine parties are 'themed' dinners (such as all Tuscan, all Lombardian, etc) and the food is NOT on the everyday menu, it is totally different. I went to the November party, had a blast and have been meaning to go back, there's nothing else like it in the suburbs, especially on a Sunday night (it's also convenient- I live in Deerfield!!) Usually it's in the private dining room, but sounds like they are getting more and more popular.

Thanks, Jonas, for the clarification. Some friends of mine stopped attending the Sunday wine dinners because they weren't offering anything new. It sounds like they've changed things up a bit with this program since they initially rolled it out.

Sorry to pick nits, but I can't help myself - there are a lot of places running special, themed menus paired with wines in the suburbs. They may not be identical in all respects, but if the concept is a special, themed menu matched with wine, possibly focusing on the cuisine from a specific geography, that is hardly new or unique. I get emails on these things all the time.
