Gaylord India--Closed but Opening

Gaylord is a nearby, go-to place which we usually frequent once or twice a month. Their long-time location on Clark and Huron (on the street level of the high ick-factor Hotel Wacker) is now closed after serving its final meal last weekend. If memory serves, the restaurant has been in that location for at least 25 or 30 years.

The good news is that it's re-opening in a few months, though unfortunately for us, it will be on Walton, just west of Michigan, in that below sea level space near the teeth whitening joint.

Some of my first experiences with Gaylord were when I lived in Manhattan. That branch closed, but I have enjoyed the one at at Clark and Huron from time to time. It won't replace trips to Devon Ave, but for a chain it's not bad.

Ah - I love LTHF for insight into what is going on in the restaurant front. I walked by the new location this morning and hadn't even realized the old location closed. I think ever since India House opened, Gaylord withered under the competition, though improving their game slightly.

Looking forward to checking out the new location - that new location has been very bad for many many restaurants. I'm not sure why new restaurants continue to open in that space.
