Pizza recommendations for Logan Sqaure / Bucktown

We just moved to the Logan Sqaure / Bucktown area (Armitage & California) and am looking for recommendations on the best pizza in the area. I like stuffed or pan pizza, but my wife likes thin crust.

Recommendations for both would be appreciated.

It was never really consistent, but when they were on, they were really good. Might be worth a try. I haven't had one in 3-4 yrs or so (moved from the area.) It was my "go to" place for stuffed pizza in the hood back then. I was not a big fan of all the other joints (for stuffed.)

I think we used to do Father & Son for thin crust. It was not very exciting in any way that I recall. I think we used to order stuffed pizza much more since the thin pizza was not that well represented in Logan Square back then. Maybe things have changed. I do remember ordering a "veggie" pizza on the first night we moved in. Just opened a phone book, and picked a name out of it. Went and picked it up...It had french fries on it! I think that was Congress pizza. They also sold me a nice freshly fried, hot appetizer of uncleaned calamari. MMMM. Ink sacs, beaks, endoskeletal remnants and all. That was the last time I went there. Of course, ymmv.

As far as thin crust, I'm really addicted to the thin crust pizza at Vintage Wine Bar. Piece is pretty solid as well.

Are you looking for pizza to eat at the restaurant, or takeout/delivery?

John's Pizzeria on Western does an okay thin-crust pie. They should deliver to you. They do other crust styles, but I can't remember any of them in particular. The "Godzilla" pizza has nearly every meat topping imaginable and can hit the spot if you're in the mood.

I've never liked anything I've had from Congress; bad crust, bland sauce.

Pizza's not the area's strong point. If I could make one off-topic recommendation, make a point to try Taqueria Moran, right underneath the California El stop. It blows every other taqueria in the area out of the water.

I'll say John's does an excellent thin crust (try the Roman), but when delivered can be average to excellent, depending how long it took to arrive. It is fairly thin so order a bigger size than you think you need. As for deep dish, I think the best around is Mi Pie on Damen/Armitage. They should deliver to your area.

Your new favorite liquor store will be Vas Foremost on Milwaukee/California. Great beer selection.

Go get a sandwich/malt/soup at The Brown Sack as well.

While I like John's thin crust, my go-to place for Chicago thin crust is My Pie on Damen. Always a treat (but you pay for the privilege). Others seem to like the deep dish, but I've never had it.

Piece makes a nice East coast style, and Santullo's nearby is good if you like NY style and happen to get them on an "on" night.

I also have love for My Pie (My Pi). I haven't had the deep dish, my husband likes it fine. Truly a cracker crust, if you like that sort of thing.

I have had luck ordering the thin crust from Art of Pizza. If you ask for easy cheese, it is quite good. I still call Apart pizza every few months to beg them to deliver to Logan Square, but alas they have yet to extend their delivery area.

I'd say John's does a barely acceptable job, but it's the best thing I've found in the neighborhood. Sometimes, only pizza delivery will do. I liked Big Cheese well enough, but it closed.

I've been having decent luck with Manzos, who started delivering in Logan Square about a year ago. Thin crust Special #1 (bacon, onion and mushroom) is quite good. They also make a good pan pizza, if you like the style with a very thick, doughy crust and relatively sparing (for Chicago deep dish) toppings. I've yet to try Manzo's stuffed pizza.

I've been in the area for about 12 years and pizza is not its strong suite. My wife likes My Pie but I really don't - it's a cracker crust that isn't baked in an oven, its heated through toaster oven-like device, similar to Potbellys.

There's a new Lou Malnati's delivery/take out place on Damen, just south of North Ave. That's my go to.

Hate to say it but we've been guilty of ordering the 14.99 one topping special from Bella's (includes free 2 liter of soda). Although not great, it's good for what it is - bar style pizza.

My Pie is great IMHO.

For thin crust we favor John's but they are cash only for delivery. For deep dish, Art of Pizza should deliver to you--depending on how far west you are. If not, My Pi is good as well and they also have pretty good sandwiches and salads.

Some of my friends are offended by pineapple on pizza but someone ordered a thin pineapple/canadian bacon from My Pie and it was f'n amazing.

Don't overlook Vito & Angelo's Restaurant on Fullerton, west of Central Park. They offer delivery and pick-up, and make terrific pizzas. My fave is the "Vito's Delight" which is a thin-crust Tomato, Garlic, Basil, and Cheese pizza without sauce. Believe me, you won't miss the lack of tomato suace. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful.

Another thing I like is their consistency in delivery service. On time, with no problems, and no drama.

Also, their pan-pizzas are delicious. And dangerous. Because I have never known anyone to eat more than two slices without needing a nap.

Consider yourself warned......

My "go to" delivery is the deep dish sausage and giardiniera at Mi Pi (the Damen location listed up thread). I have tried many of the other places listed here but have not had an option that is as consistently good both in terms of the quality and temp of the pie on delivery, a good balance of toppings (i.e. not so much that you are overwhelmed and not to little that you feel like you barely taste it and wonder exactly where you money went), and prompt and courteous delivery. Granted, not every one likes deep dish but, as I have previously mentioned, I try to judge each pie on its own quality and not simply by my preference for a specific style. Along those lines, Mi Pi is an excellent example of a deep dish pizza. When I am in the mood for thin crust and only thin crust, I bite the bullet, hop in the car and head to Coalfire. Unfortunately, the do not deliver so it is a bit off topic here.

I have had it once or twice over the years and you are correct IMHO, it is a solid thin crust pie. Still, when I'm just ordering pizza for 1 or 2 I find I am always drawn to my old standby deep dish with sausage & giardiniera. I have found that every time I have tried to change up my order I find myself wishing I had been boring and gotten my usual. But, yes, I do agree that they are more than a one trick pony and I have never been outright disappointed with anything I have ordered. Actually, all this talk has kinda made me hungry for some Mi Pi... maybe I'll put in a call and post some pictures!

Pequod's hands down. They have both, thin and the traditional thick Chicago style. I have to say this is one of my all time favorite pizza places.

I'm a devoted My Pie or John's thin crust eater. I generally switch back and forth. Both are better fresh no doubt, but I think both do a good job with delivery.

Guy's Pizza does a decent deep-dish, and does deliver pretty far east, although maybe not across western? I'm not sure:
